When asked about his age, the boy told the man that he was 16. They agreed to meet up later on the same day to engage in sexual activities. The court heard that the man sent the boy a message on the gay dating app Grindr on 18 December 2016 and the two began communicating via the app.
Both the man and the boy cannot be identified due to a gag order.
